Anyone who supports animal testing makes me cringe. Sadly, most people today treat animals as commodities that don't have feelings. I honestly don't get the concept of animal testing. Schools have been dissecting cats, frogs, and mice for decades and this makes me think - shouldn't we have learned something by now? I mean, why do it over, and over, and over again? Do you know that breast implants are actually tested on dogs? These silicone implants are implanted on dogs to see how long they last and these dogs are confined to cramped cages with very poor sanitation whatsoever. Is all this pain and suffering really worth a pair of bigger jugs? Indeed, some animals have it more than others: mice and rats are probably the most abused animals on the face of the earth. I don't understand why some people think it is okay to artificially introduce tumors and all sorts of cancers to another living thing's body. They never asked for it. How would you feel if I implanted a tumor on your mother's arse? Cruelty to animals refers to treatment or standards of care that cause unwarranted or unnecessary suffering or harm to animals. Standards of both animal cruelty legislation, and enforcement, may vary between different places from non-existent through to comprehensive, and the acts and conditions which are deemed "cruel" also vary. Opinions are divided whether practices such as factory farming, fur farming and animal testing of medical procedures and consumer products pose a major moral issue. People today view slavery, child labor, and the oppression of women as wrong, but this change only happened because there were thoughtful people who dared to call for justice - even at great personal risk. I am writing this article for my dear Alfalfa. People have got to realize that mice actually make great pets and are very sweet, responsive, smart, and have very good memory. Having Alfalfa is almost like having a small dog.. Unfortunately, not all of his brothers and sisters are as lucky as him.. Thousands of mice get tested on every single day and are deprived of their basic joys and stimulation. These animals are cut up, implanted on, tortured, and neglected in laboratories worldwide. I do not believe the human race is above all animals so please don't give me the "it's-okay-because-they-save-our-lives" argument. How can we be above them when we are destroying them? As human beings, how many animals have we made extinct, huh? This is not about being a pet lover. One might say that the reason why I am so passionate about this is because I am a pet lover.. truth is, I would never have an alligator as a pet yet I respect them and won't ever wear leather because of that. This is about respect - plain and simple. Violence, my friends, is NEVER a good thing. If you think you are worthy of the title "Human Being", do me a favor and click on this link.
